On the 26th May 2012, while I was absent, a happy event happened. A trio of small Rhacodactylus ciliatus geckos is finally complete! We are now consequently able to distinguish their colour forms. The first youngster is coloured in Creamsicle form (it was hatched in the tank with a higher temperature). The other two youngsters from incubator are coloured the Fire and Fire/Creamsicle morph.
The temperature plays a major role in incubation of this species. The
youngsters from eggs incubated in temperature higher than 24°C do hatch
very early (approximately in 50 days) but they are not strong enough.
The first youngster, which is now one month old therefore still
struggles to climb and can’t eat by itself. On the other hand, the
new-hatched siblings are very active and climb without any trouble.
